MPO Boundary

MVP will review and possibly amend the Metropolitan Planning Area (MPA) boundary every ten years following the census certification to ensure that the planning area includes the new urbanized area and the areas expected to grow in population.

About the MPA

The MPA encompasses the Mat-Su Valley’s urbanized area, plus the geographic areas expected to become urbanized within the next 20 years. It serves as the geographic focus for regional transportation planning, coordination, and funding.

MVP is responsible for ensuring all transportation plans, projects, and engagement efforts align with the Valley’s needs and priorities.
