Plans & Projects
MVP develops four federally funded plans that guide how transportation funding is invested in the Mat-Su Valley, setting long-term vision, short-term projects, and the work program that keeps our region connected, safe, and resilient.
Our Transportation Plans
MVP’s four core plans guide how federal funding is used to improve transportation across the Mat-Su Valley.
Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP 2050)
The MTP is the Valley’s long-range transportation strategy through 2050. It sets goals and identifies investments for roads, transit, freight, walking, and biking. Community input drives this plan.
Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)
The TIP lists near-term projects funded with federal dollars and ensures they’re included in Alaska’s Statewide Transportation Improvement Program. MVP’s first TIP will allocate funds for Federal Fiscal Years 2027–30.
Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP)
The UPWP is MVP’s two-year operating budget and work plan. It explains how federal planning funds will be used and outlines the studies and activities needed to meet MPO goals.
Public Participation Plan (PPP)
The PPP outlines how MVP involves the public in its transportation planning process. It ensures community members have clear opportunities to provide input on regional plans, programs, and projects.
